Ravinder Gupta, an Indian Railway Services officer of Mechanical Engineers has taken over the charge of General Manager of Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala.

Prior to this, he was working as the Principal Executive Director, Mechanical Engineering/Workshop, at Railway Board, New Delhi. Gupta joined the Indian Railways in 1984. He has served the Indian Railways in various capacities. He served as Divisional Rail Manager at Malda in Eastern Railway.

He was Chief Admistrative Officer in Indian Railways Organisation of Alternate Fuels in 2016-17 and later served as Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer in Eastern Railway Kolkata.

He has made significant contribution in the Indian Railways and is credited for creating CTS (Clean Train Station) scheme which was implemented nationwide for improving cleanliness in running trains.

He also created designs of coaches for Jan Shatabdi trains, high-capacity parcel van, which is the main stay of parcel earnings of the Indian Railways and refrigerated parcel vans.

He also developed new wagon design of high-speed and high-capacity wagons for coal and bulk, besides Auto Car Wagons with highest carrying capacity in the world.
