To spread awareness regarding illegal and unsafe migration in the region, a block and district-level road show was organised at the Nakodar block here today.

An awareness camp against unsafe (irregular) migration has been implemented in the state in association with the Navjeevan Charitable Society for Integral Development, Jalandhar, and Caritas India, New Delhi.

The Road show commenced from the Gagan Surjit Park, Nakodar, to bus stand, Nakodar. The aim behind organising the event was to spread awareness regarding risks associated with unsafe migration from Punjab to Europe.

More than 150 persons, including social activists Tarsem Peter; KS Nagra and Prof Vijat Kumar, KRM DAV College, Nakodar; and Fr. Sijth John, participated in the road show.

The organisation has reintegrated over 300 voluntary returnees of the state under the reintegration project. The campaign is running successfully at targeted areas of 23 district, 23 blocks and 46 villages of the state.

Under the project, various organisations carried out activities like village-level awareness campaign; school and college-level seminars; school-level drawing competitions; youth skit competition; awareness through leaflets and posters; and block and district-level road shows.
