Chandigarh, September 15

On the opening day of the Katoch Shield semifinal match at Gandhi Grounds in Amritsar, visitors Jalandhar rode on Raghu Ram's six-for to bundle out the hosts on 171 before closing the day's play at 128/3.

Batting first, Shivluv (60) and Rohan Marwaha (40) added 110 runs for the second wicket to provide a decent platform to the side after they lost an early wicket.

However, after the dismissal of the two, the side lost wickets in a heap as Raghu swept through the middle order, packing off Navneet Virk (19), Abhinavb Sharma (3), Vinay Chaoudhary (25), Kamal Passi (0) and Shivam Sharma (5) in quick succession.

In reply, Jalandhar closed the day on 128/3 with Himanshu Sharma batting on 53 and Abhishek not out on 30. — TNS
