Radio Raabta registered at UNESCO’s website

JALANDHAR: Community Radio Raabta 90.8 MHz of the PG department of journalism and mass communication of Doaba College, Jalandhar, celebrated the World Radio Day by getting registered at UNESCO’s website for the third consecutive year and by broadcasting three hours programme today based on UNESCO’s theme ‘Dialogue Tolerance and Peace’.

Community Radio Raabta 90.8 MHz of the PG department of journalism and mass communication of Doaba College, Jalandhar, celebrated the World Radio Day by getting registered at UNESCO’s website for the third consecutive year and by broadcasting three hours programme today based on UNESCO’s theme ‘Dialogue Tolerance and Peace’.

On the occasion, Radio Raabta 90.8 MHz also launched a new programme-cum-live chat show entitled ‘Aao Gallan Kariye.

Giving details, HoD Dr Simran Sidhu, said the programme was a first-of-its-kind initiative of the department wherein teachers and students had a informal communication live and teachers were asked various questions related to their personal life, experiences and job by students.

Prof Priya Chopra and students Talwinder and Manzoor were the part of the programme and they expressed their views on the relevance of dialogue in life, she added. Besides a brief history of radio and prominence of the World Radio Day was also discussed, she said.

Dr Sidhu further added that a vox pop entitled ‘My Experience, My Voice’ hosted by Prof Gurpreet Singh, students Parina, Jivesh and Deepak was recorded by students in which youth from college and outside campus participated and spoke about the significance of dialogue in their lives in age of social media.
