The victim was on her way to a bank.The accused managed to flee from the spot.The police have registered a case in this regard. OC

VP to attend LPU convocation

Phagwara: Lovely Professional University will organise it’s annual convocation on October 22. Vice-President of India, Venkaiah Naidu, will grace the occasion as the chief guest. He will deliver convocation address and award gold medals to meritorious students. The varsity will award degrees/diplomas to 13,018 regular students; 223 part-time students; and, 23,901 students of distance education of 2017 and 2018 batches. 

Snatchers target tourist

Amritsar: Snatchers target a tourist from Himachal Pradesh when she, along with her family, was going towards the Attari-Wagah Joint Check Post on Sunday. When the victim, identified as Maya Verma, along with her family, reached near the Cantonment police station on GT road, two youth riding a scooter snatched her purse. She had Rs 15,000 in cash, two mobile phones and some documents. Investigation is under progress. TNS

11 more fall prey to dengue

Ludhiana: As many as 11 more cases of dengue have been reported. With this, the total number of dengue cases in Ludhiana district have gone up to 200. Civil Surgeon Dr Parwinder Pal Singh Sidhu has asked people to keep their surroundings clean. “Mosquitoes need only one spoonful of water to breed. Residents should clean their coolers and flower pots every week as one week’s time is required for a mosquito to develop into an adult mosquito,” said Dr Sidhu. TNS
