Punjabi movie to highlight struggle of a sportsman

JALANDHAR: The star cast of the upcoming Punjabi movie based on sports, ‘Harjeeta’, inspired by the true story of Harjeet Singh, a hockey player, who captained the Indian squad at the 2016 Men’s Hockey Junior World Cup, was in the city on Wednesday for its promotion.

The star cast of the upcoming Punjabi movie based on sports, ‘Harjeeta’, inspired by the true story of Harjeet Singh, a hockey player, who captained the Indian squad at the 2016 Men’s Hockey Junior World Cup, was in the city on Wednesday for its promotion.

The movie is directed by Vijay Kumar Arora and will feature the popular Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk in the lead role. It is scheduled to be released on May 18 under the banner of Sizzlen Productions and Malika Productions in association with Omjee group villagers film studio. It also stars, Pankaj Tripathi, Raj Jhinger and Prakash Gadhu as the lead characters.

Ammy Virk, said, “Harjeeta is a film based on the inspiring story of a sportsman, grappling with life’s struggles, and surviving against all odds and managing to end the nation’s 15-year-old drought in the Junior Championship by lifting the coveted trophy. In India sports as a career has its own set of obstacles, be it from parents or society but Harjeet despite circumstances, and without any support decided to fight and lived his dream of being a remarkable player.”

Talking about his own hardships, transformation as player, Virk added that, he worked really hard for the transformation of his body shape to look like Harjeet Singh Tuli. He said, he learnt the sport from few trained hockey players and has given his best to justify the role of Harjeet.

The producers of the movie said, “The movie will take the Punjabi Industry to another level. There have been movies on sports but the one inspired from true story usually attracts youngsters and leaves a great impact. We are looking forward to a great response from the audience,” they added.
