Punjab cops notch 57 medals in Police Games

JALANDHAR: Punjab Police have won over 57 medals at the recently held World Police Games in Los Angeles.

Punjab Police have won over 57 medals at the recently held World Police Games in Los Angeles. The players were given a rousing welcome by the department on their return home.

ADGP (Armed battalion) Kuldeep Singh felicitated the players who had won medals in the games and also DSP Khushbir Kaur who has been nominated for the Arjuna Award.

The department has sent a squad of 16 players who won 24 gold, 19 silver and 14 bronze medals. Congratulating the winners, the ADGP asked them to work hard and secure a place in the Olympics as well.

Among those present on the occasion were hockey players DSP Manpreet Singh, DSP Ramandeep Singh, DSP Akashdeep Singh and ASI Jasjeet Singh.

Meena too wins medal

Powerlifter Meena Kumari has secured the third position in the 63 kg weight category at the Senior National Powerlifting Championship, silver in the dead lift and bronze in the squat during the Senior National Powerlifting Championship 2017 held recently in Kerala.

Team selected for Asian Rowing Championship

L/SI Navneet Kaur and L/Ct Harpreet Kaur have been selected in the Indian team for participation in the Asian Rowing Championship being held at Pattaya, Thailand, from September 4 to 8 this year.

Cop selected for Senior World Judo championship 

Punjab Police cop Avtar Singh, who had recently won gold in the judo championship held in World Police and Fire Games has got selected for the Senior World Judo Championship that will be held on August 28 at Hungary.
