Protect environmental resources: Experts

Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala in collaboration with Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, organised a regional workshop on ‘Role of Earth and Environmental Sciences in Sustainable Development’ here today.

A total of 200 school students participated in the workshop. The objective behind organising the workshop was to apprise the masses of new sustainability trends, best practices and strategies in managing of environmental resources.

Dr Rajesh Grover, director, Pushpa Gujral Science City, presided over the function and emphasised on the need to preserve and protect the environmental resources.

The programme covered expert lectures and site visit to sewage treatment plant and Vermicomposting unit at the science city.

Dr Brijendra Pateriya, director, Punjab Remote Sensing Agency, Ludhiana and Dr Maninder Kaur from the School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh were the resource persons.

Dr Brijendra Pateriya explained the participants about the application of remote sensing and GIS technology in sustainable sevelopment. Dr Maninder Kaur shared her views on management of environmental resources and adverse effects of environmental pollution on human health.
