The police is expected to make a sensational disclosure in the case of suspected ISI agent Ehsaan Ul-Haq. Haq, an Austrian national, who was arrested two days ago in a joint operation conducted by the intelligence agencies and the Jalandhar police.
On the first day of the investigation, it was revealed that Haq had got his documents verified from a village sarpanch. It was only after the aforesaid sarpanch verified his documents that Haq managed to get his Aadhaar card and PAN card made in India.
ACP, Special Branch, Manpreet Dhillon said the agent has been identified but it is yet to be ascertained whether he was aware that Haq was a foreign national.
While Dhillon refused to divulge further details, sources said the agent was aware of Haq being a Pakistani origin Austrian national who took money to get documents related to his identity made in India. The police have sought details of Haq’s Adhaar card from the UID to identify the sarpanch who had verified his papers.
Meanwhile, it was also learned that Haq’s second wife had converted to Islam before leaving for Pakistan. According to sources, she converted to get Austrian citizenship along with Haq.
While his wife Balwinder Kaur raised a hue and cry and slammed the Jalandhar police for harassing her husband without any reason, sources claim that she was aware that Haq had submitted fake documents to get his identity cards made in Punjab.
Surprisingly, Balwinder Kaur’s family has not come out in support of the couple till date.
