Parents hold protest outside schools

PHAGWARA: Irate villagers, parents and students of two Government Schools of Phagwara subdivision, on Saturday, protested in front of the schools and blocked the main gates against the transfers of three teachers.

Irate villagers, parents and students of two Government Schools of Phagwara subdivision, on Saturday, protested in front of the schools and blocked the main gates against the transfers of three teachers.

Two teachers Harpreet Singh and Sonia Thapa of Government Primary School, posted at Kaulsar village, were transferred to Kapurthala.

A total of 92 students are studying at the school, where only two teachers, two education providers and one helper have been posted. Similarly Rajinder Kumar, a teacher of Government Senior Secondary School, Nangal Majha village, has been transferred.

Kaulsar Harmesh Lal, a social activist, said: “Parents and villagers are protesting against the transfers near examinations for the past four days. We would intensify the stir if transfers are not cancelled with immediate effect.”
