Panchayat unions’ strike enters Day 15

On a call given by the state union, the staff belonging to the Panchayat Samiti and Panchayat Secretaries Union continued their strike for the 15th day on Friday.

They sat on a dharna in front of the BDPO’s office and held a protest rally which was addressed by Union Block President Malkiat Chand who criticised the indifferent policies of the state government and alleged that despite the assurance of the government, none of their demands could be accepted by the government even after three months.

Their demands included payment of their salary through treasury and restoration of old pension scheme. The protesters threatened to continue their pen down strike till the acceptance of their demands.
