Students of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya bagged the overall trophy in inter-college competition “Tarang-2017” organised by St Soldier College. Principal Dr Ajay Sareen congratulated Navroop, dean, youth welfare, and students. She said HMV students got the first prize in folk song, first prize in Kavishri, first prize in Bollywood dance, first prize in western dance, first prize in poster making, second prize in collage making and second prize in Rangoli competition. Principal Sareen encouraged students to give their best. Co-dean Shama Sharma, Dr Prem Sagar, Dr Nidhi Kochhar, Dr Pooja Minhas and Pooja were also present.

Meritorious students

Students of bachelor of design multimedia (Sem I) of the Apeejay College of Fine Arts scored well in Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, examination held in December last year securing top positions. Gauri Verma stood first with 341 out of 400 marks, Harsh Prateek Singh stood eighth with 316 out of 400 marks, Anmol Batra stood eighth with 316 marks, Shriya Goyal stood ninth with 313 marks, Ashsish Khurana stood 12th with 309 and Shuchi Kharbanda stood 15th scoring 303 marks out of 400 marks. Dr Sucharita, Principal of the college, congratulated students and urged them to continue working towards their goals with single minded devotion and commitment.

University positions

Students of PG department of Hindi of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, brought laurels to the institution by bagging the top positions in Guru Nanak Dev University exam results of BA (hons) Hindi (Sem V). Lakhwinder topped the university with 84 out of 100 marks. Monika bagged the second position with 82 out of 100 marks, Prabhjot stood third with 80 out of 100 marks, Sakshi bagged the sixth position with 73 out of 100 marks and Anjali secured the eighth position with 71 out of 100 marks. Principal of the college Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated students on their achievements and lauded the faculty of the Hindi Department. she inspired them to keep working hard.

Graduation ceremony

Darshan Academy, Jalandhar, celebrated the graduation ceremony with enthusiasm on its premises. It was celebrated for tiny tots to mark the end of their pre-school years and to commence the beginning of the new academic session. Vijay Kumar Chechi, Head of the education department at Lovely Professional University was the chief guest on the day. Children marched on the stage and took oath. After taking oath with the Principal, they received degrees. Many colorful activities like role play, dance, bhangra, were displayed by students. Academic guards were also given to congratulate students, teachers and parents for their efforts. —TNS
