The North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) has condemned the crackdown of US Federal Immigration Officials across the country in which hundreds of undocumented person have been arrested and some of them have been deported to their countries.

Releasing the statement, NAPA executive director Satnam Singh Chahal said here today that although there were no confirmed reports about any arrest of an Indian, but it was suspected that there would be many Indians especially Punjabi youths among those who were arrested during the crackdown.

He said, “We welcome the crackdown on undocumented targeting criminal aliens, illegal re-entrants and immigration fugitives, but innocent and law abiding undocumented persons should not be arrested on the basis of their race and faith.” He disclosed that panic and terror is said to be running through immigrant communities in the US following raids carried out across at least six states as part of Donald Trump’s pledge to crack down on illegal immigrants.“This is clearly the first wave of attacks under the Trump administration, and we know this isn’t going to be the only one,” added Chahal.
