No headway in murder case of AIG’s mother

JALANDHAR: Though investigations are in progress to trace the murderers of AIG’s mother Shiela Rani Prabhakar, who was found dead on September 17, nothing concrete has been obtained by the police.

Though investigations are in progress to trace the murderers of AIG’s mother Shiela Rani Prabhakar, who was found dead on September 17, nothing concrete has been obtained by the police.

The police were engaged in resolving various aspects of the investigation to trace the accused, who robbed Shiela before killing her. However, in the subsequent investigations, the police picked up some suspects from the Dakoha area and questioned them but later they were released. On today also, the police checked the CCTV footage but nobody was found near the deceased’s house.

SHO Kuldeep Singh Kang, who is investigating the case, said a team of doctors had been formed and reports of the post-mortem examination were yet to come. The body was handed over to the family after the autopsy.

The SHO claimed that the mystery behind the murder would be resolved shortly and no family rivalry was reported during the interrogation.

Shiela Rani (80), whose two sons are working with the Punjab Police, was found murdered at her house in the Dakoha locality here on Monday. Mother of AIG Sareen Prabhakar, who is posted as a commandant with the PAP, used to live alone at her house. She was found dead by her daughter, who came to visit her at 1 pm on Monday.
