No eateries, bars in city to remain open after 11 pm

With an aim to ensure the maintenance of law and order in the jurisdiction of the Commissionerate of Police, Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner of Police Gurmit Singh had ordered that no restaurants, clubs, bars, pubs, etc would be allowed to remain open after 11 pm.

In the order, he stated that “It has come to the notice that a number of restaurants, bars, pubs and clubs falling under the jurisdiction of the Commissionerate remain open till late hours in the night, and furthermore DJs play music even after 10 pm, disturbing local residents”.

Besides, it has also been noticed that vehicles are moving about in the city, with music playing at a high volume. As such, to ensure maintenance of law and order, it is the need of the hour to issue restraining orders regarding the timings of restaurant clubs, bars and pubs as well as the use of amplifiers and DJs.

He said after 11 pm, no order for food, beverage, alcohol, etc, would be taken in any restaurant, bar, pub, or club situated in the jurisdiction of the Police Commissionerate.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police said no new customer should be allowed to enter the premises of such outlets after 11 pm.

No loud music should be played by DJs, live orchestra and singers after 10 pm. After 10 pm, no such sounds should be heard outside the boundary of any establishments, he said.

He said the order would remain in force till September 15, 2019.
