Woman arrested with 1-kg opium

HOSHIARPUR: The Model Town police have claimed to have arrested a woman with 1 kg of opium. The police have arrested the woman and recovered 1 kg of opium from the car. Her husband was also caught with heroin some time back and had been out on bail almost a month earlier.

The Model Town police have claimed to have arrested a woman with 1 kg of opium. The police have arrested the woman and recovered 1 kg of opium from the car. Her husband was also caught with heroin some time back and had been out on bail almost a month earlier.

SHO Bharat Masih Laddhar said acting on a tip off, the police laid a blockade near Shri Guru Harikrishan School on Tuesday. When a car was signaled to stop, the driver stopped the car and fled from the spot. The police nabbed the woman in the car. During the search, 1 kg of opium was recovered from the vehicle. The police have identified the accused woman as Jyoti, a resident of Dashmesh Nagar.

Inspector Bharat Masih said the accused who had escaped from the spot is husband of Jyoti. He has been identified as Joshil Kumar, alias, Professor. The police had arrested Joshil some time ago with 130 grams of heroin. At that time, six motorcycles were also recovered from him, which were sold to him in lieu of the drugs bought by the addicts who had no money to pay to him. The police have claimed The arrested woman was produced before the CJM court from where she was sent to jail in judicial custody. — OC
