10-day NCC training camp kicks off at Phalahi

A 10-day annual training camp of the 12 Punjab Battalion, NCC, Hoshiarpur, commenced at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalya, Phalahi village, at Hoshiarpur.

As many as 528 cadets, including 225 girls, from various colleges and schools of the region are participating in the camp. Two officers, eight Associated NCC Officers and 19 members of PI staff are conducting the camp.

Commanding Officer Col Sandeep Kumar, in his inaugural address said: “The camp is aimed at to prepare the cadets for team work and understand their responsibility in order to cultivate the art of leadership and make cadets understand their responsibility towards society and the Nation.”

“Special lectures and rallies for water consevation and prevention of pollution will be organised during the camp,” he added.

“Besides the military subjects, including weapon training, drill, map reading, field craft etc, the cadets will also be accorded training in first aid and disaster management,” said Col Sandeep Kumar.

He said: “Special emphasis will be given to generate self-discipline and integrity in order to cultivate the art of leadership.”

He said: “The cadets will be selected to train them for national competitions. Career counselling and skill building will also be organised during the camp.”
