Yoga, a panacea for all: DC

To apprise people multiple benefits of Yoga, the district administration shall hold a district-level function to mark the ‘International Day of Yoga’ on June 21 on the premises of DAV Ayurvedic College here under the ‘Tandarust Punjab’ mission.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting conducted by Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Varinder Kumar Sharma at his office in the District Administrative Complex.

Chairing the meeting, the DC said: “The administration shall make elaborate arrangements to organise the mega event to spread the message of a healthy and progressive Punjab.” 

“The sports, health, police, education and other departments shall complete the necessary formalities to celebrate the event in a gala way,” added the DC.

The Deputy Commissioner said: “The yoga gives multiple health benefits, including improving flexibility, build muscle strength,  protects spine, increases blood flow, boosts immunity, improves heart rate, balance blood pressure, and boosts immune system.” 

District Guidance Counsellor Surjit Lal, District Sports Officer Balwinder Singh, swimming coach Umesh Sharma, among others were present. 

BSF to organise shivir at Ashwini Stadium 

The Border Security Force (BSF) shall hold a ‘Yoga shivir’ on ‘International Day of Yoga’ here on June 21. The BSF officials shall take part in the ‘Shivir’. 

The ‘Shivir’ shall be held from 6.45 am to 8.30 am at Ashwani Stadium in BSF headquarters here. 

The administration shall make elaborate arrangements for the mega event. Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Varinder Kumar Sharma said: “No stone shall be left unturned to ensure the message of a healthy and progressive Punjab.”

He said: “The Sports, Health, Police, Education and other departments shall complete the necessary formalities to celebrate the event in a gala way”.

A total of seven students from government schools have gone to participate in National-level Yoga Olympiad in New Delhi. The event was commenced on June 18 and conclude on June 20.
