Chabbewal releases Cong manifesto

HOSHIARPUR: Congress candidate from Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha constituency Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal released his election manifesto to spread a word about his vision for his constituency on Friday, the last day of campaigning.

Congress candidate from Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha constituency Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal released his election manifesto to spread a word about his vision for his constituency on Friday, the last day of campaigning.

The manifesto was launched by Cabinet Minister Sunder Sham Arora. Dr Chabbewal said, “During the election campaign, I have made promises with people and this manifesto is to bring the same on record in writing because I’m bound to work on what I have said”.

The main highlights of the manifesto are package for industry on the pattern of Himachal Pradesh, healthcare, IIT-level technical college for the region, NIS for youth, reward of Rs five lakh to SC students grabbing top three positions in boards and reward of Rs 25 to 50 lakh to sportspersons bagging gold medal in international events”. 

He said, “Being the son of an ex-serviceman, I will take up One Rank-One Pension issue strongly in the party and Parliament and seek free education for the children of ex-servicemen and martyrs, free ration and post-retirement government job quota for them”. 

Kandi area forms a large part of Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha constituency. The area would be improved in regard to issues of stray cattle, water supply, better health facilities, 24-hour power supply to both domestic and farming sectors, and converting dams into tourism centres, Dr Chabbewal said. 

In addition to this, the manifesto included the NYAY scheme, no permission for new business for three years, 23 lakh government jobs and 10 lakh employments through panchayats, 33 per cent quota for women in Assembly/ Parliament, 150 days of employment in MGNREGA, interest-free education loan and easy GST. He also 

promised to dedicate his MP salary to the constituency.
