Seminar on Guru Nanak’s teachings

Ahead of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, a seminar on the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev was organised at IK Gujral Punjab Technical University today.

Vice-Chancellor Dr Ajay Sharma said: “The university is preparing a schedule to organise a series of seminars and events dedicated to the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev under NSS and academic projects.

He said: “The university is establishing a joint project with Tata Technologies at Sultanpur Lodhi. In his research paper, a participant Manjinder Singh from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, discussed the difference between the life course of Guru Nanak Dev and the current lifestyle.”

Prof Avtar Singh from Ramgarhia College, Phagwara, said: Instead of looking at the historic sight of Guru Sahib, there is a need to look at his spiritual vision.”

Dr Amarjit Singh from Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Adampur, expressed doubts about the completeness of the review work done on the life of Guru Nanak Dev.

Dr Sukhbir Singh Walia, registrar of the university said: “With the name of the newly-developed auditorium of the university is also named after Guru Nanak Dev. Following the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev, students can achieve the heights of success”.

Assistant Director, Youth Affairs, Sumeer Sharma; Deputy Registrar Dr Geet; Assistant Professor Dr Barinderjeet Singh; Assistant Registrar, Paramjit Singh Gill, among others were present. As many as 120 students, faculty members and staff also visited the holy city Sultanpur Lodhi and visited gurdwaras related to Guru Nanak Dev. — TNS
