Rs 5 lakh approved for Civil Hospital

JALANDHAR: The Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS), headed by Deputy Commissioner (DC), Varinder Kumar Sharma, today approved Rs 5 lakh for improving the infrastructure and health facilities at the Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Civil Hospital.

The Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS), headed by Deputy Commissioner (DC), Varinder Kumar Sharma, today approved Rs 5 lakh for improving the infrastructure and health facilities at the Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Civil Hospital.

Presiding over a meeting, held at District Administrative Complex, the DC said Rs 5 lakh would be spent for buying a new mattress, linen, medicines, consumable and non-consumable items, besides new furniture and paint and white-wash of the wards of 470-bedded hospital.

He asked Dr Jasmeet Kaur Bawa, Medical Superintendent, Civil Hospital, to complete the whole process as soon as possible including the formation of purchase committee, inviting tenders or quotations so that work can be started.

The DC told Dr Bawa to submit an estimate report for other pending works to make the Jalandhar Civil Hospital well-eqipped health facility in the state for which he would talk to the State Health Minister, Brahm Mohindra.

Sharma said the doctors in the Civil Hospital must recommend only generic medicines to the patients and the availability of such medicines in ‘Jan Aushidhi Centre’ must be ensured round the clock.

Dr Bawa informed the DC that the Civil Hospital was going to start Diplomate of National Board (DNB) course for which the first inspection would be held on February 20.

“It is a postgraduate course in post-doctoral medical education, under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare,” he added.

He requested the Deputy Commissioner about the problem of garbage in the Civil Hospital, on which Sharma dialled concerned MC official and asked them to ensure lifting the garbage daily.

Civil Surgeon Dr Rajesh Kumar Bagga; District Education Officer (secondary) Harinderpal Singh; SMO Dr Kashmiri Lal; Dr Tarlochan Singh,among others were present.
