Jalandhar, October 16

The Nakodar police have registered a case under Sections 302 (punishment for murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) of the IPC against unidentified persons after the body of a woman, who was in her late 20s, was found at Pandori Khas village.

SHO Amarjit Singh said a passer-by informed the police when he saw the body infested with insects. “The body was found six days ago, but when we reached the spot, it was found that the victim, as per the condition of the body, might have murdered a day before. The victim seemed to be a migrant labourer,” hesaid.

The police said they had kept the body so that someone could come and identify it. She was strangulated to death as a dupatta was found around her neck and there were strangulation marks too.

The SHO said autopsy had been conducted. “We have registered a case in this regard and the probe is on.” — TNS
