Narcotics seized from jail; guard, inmate booked

The Central Jail administration here has got a case registered against a PESCO guard for reportedly supplying intoxicant powder and pills to a prisoner.

The inmate has also been booked. According to information, Assistant Superintendent of the Central Jail Ram Kishore has filed a complaint with the city police.

He said during the search of the prisoner, Rakesh Kumar Sharma, a resident of Heera Colony, two gm of intoxicant powder, eight pills and two capsules were recovered from him.

The accused told the jail administration that the seized items were made available to him by the PESCO security man, Tajinder Singh. On the complaint, the city police have registered a case against the two suspects.

265 pills recovered from tennis ball

The Central Jail administration has got registered a case after recovering narcotic pills from a tennis ball on the jail premises.

As per information, Assistant Superintendent Subhash Chandra of the Central Jail told the city police that the jail authorities had recovered a tennis ball between the watch tower No. 2 and 3 on the jail premises during a search. When the ball was opened, 265 narcotic pills were seized from it.

On the basis of the complaint, the city police have started an investigation in the matter after registering a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
