State Industries Minister Sunder Sham Arora today called the Health Minister and Health Secretary, Punjab, seeking stern action against the Civil Surgeon, Hoshiarpur, for being absent from the meeting called by the him.

The Health Minister has asked Isha Kalia, Deputy Commissioner, Hoshiarpur, to send a detailed report in this regard. On Monday, a team of the Health Department had inspected the Civil Hospital, Hoshiarpur, and found lids of many water tanks missing. They also found dengue larvae in a large number.

Later, the local MLA and Cabinet Minister Sundar Sham Arora convened a meeting and asked the Civil Surgeon to attend the meeting. However, the latter was not in Hoshiarpur.

“I have come to know that she never stays at the headquarters here and leaves for home in Banga daily. Even when called this morning, she did not appear in the meeting,” Arora said.

He said when called, she said she was in Garhshanker and was conducting a checking. She was there as it’s on the way from Banga to Hoshiarpur.

Arora said the absenteeism of the Civil Surgeon was negligence of duty. Hence, taking a stern notice of it, he called the Health Minister to bring the matter to his notice and take immediate action. He called the Health Secretary in this regard.

After this, the Health Minister asked DC Isha Kalia to enquire regarding the matter and send the report. The DC told the media that the CS had been issued a show-cause notice regarding her non-attendance, leaving the station without permission and some other issues.
