A migrant worker shot at by an unidentified person in a factory at the Focal Point area on Wednesday. According to ADCP Jasvir Singh, two migrant workers Vikas and Deepak were sleeping in the backyard of their factory along with their families when suddenly Vikas heard some noise at the front side of the factory. He got up and saw a man trying to steal things in the factory. Smelling foul, Vikas called Deepak and began shouting to catch hold of the thief. Following this, the thief tried to escape but was caught by Deepak. After an initial argument for some minutes, the man shot Deepak in the abdomen and escaped. Ruling out any personal grudge, Singh said it seemed to be a case of robbery as the accused were seen peeping inside various other factories as well in the CCTVs installed in the area. A case has been registered and the condition of Deepak is stated to be critical. —TNS
