MC to install free water meters

JALANDHAR: The Municipal Corporation will soon install free water meters in residential areas with a grant of Rs 30 crore sanctioned by the Central government under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme recently.

The Municipal Corporation will soon install free water meters in residential areas with a grant of Rs 30 crore sanctioned by the Central government under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme recently.

The civic body had sent a project report worth Rs 534 crore under the AMRUT scheme in which installation of water meters in residential areas were also added. However, the union government approved the scheme for financial year 2018-19. The civic body is now going to take up the matter with the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) to allow them to utilise funds in this financial year.
