MC moots proposal for City Town Hall on building’s rooftop

The Municipal Corporation of Jalandhar has mooted a proposal to construct a town hall on the rooftop of the present Municipal Corporation building which can be further used as a multipurpose hall by city residents.

Superintending Engineer Ashwani Chaudhary said the proposed hall, constructed in U-shape, would have the main stage that would have the chairs of the Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor, Deputy Mayor and the Municipal Commissioner.

On two sides of the dais, there would be nine chairs on each side to accommodate 18 officials of the MCJ. Also, there would be a separate media gallery which would accommodate up to 26 reporters.

It would also have a cafeteria and separate toilet facility for male and female visitors.

Chaudhary said the general house was yet to pass the new design of the town hall.

Only after its approval from the house, the expression of interests would be invited.
