Phagwara: Balkar Singh (40), was killed on the spot, when a speeding car hit him on the Phagwara-Hoshiarpur Road here on Friday. The car driver managed to flee from the spot. The police have registered a case against the car driver and sent the body to the Civil Hospital for autopsy. OC

One held with intoxicants

Phillaur: The Phillaur police seized 204 intoxicating tablets from Jagpal Singh, alias Pala, a resident of Bilga and arrested him. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered in this regard. OC

Illicit liquor seized

Phillaur: The police seized 16 bottles of illicit liquor from Gyan Chand, a resident of Ghurrka village. A case under the Excise Act has been registered against the accused. OC

One held with mobiles, bike

Phillaur: Amrik Singh Chahal, DSP, Phillaur, said the police had seized three stolen mobiles and one bike from Amit Kumar, a resident of Ludhiana, and arrested him. The police have registered a case under Section 379 of the IPC. OC

Man booked for obscenity 

Phillaur: Phagwara: On a complaint lodged by Suman Bala, a resident of Joshian Mohalla, Phagwara, the police have booked her brother-in-law, Joginder Paul, under Sections 384-A and 323 of the IPC on the charges of obscenity and beating her in her house on Thursday night. The Police are investigating the matter. No arrest has been made so far. OC

26 booked for attack on farmer 

Tarn Taran: The police have booked 26 persons, including a commission agent at the local grain market, for allegedly attacking a farmer and his associates. OC
