Man jailed for causing road mishap death

HOSHIARPUR: The court of Chief Judicial Majistrate (CJM) Ashish Saldi awarded two-year jail term to a man in connection with a road mishap case that resulted in the death of a PSPCL employee.

The court of Chief Judicial Majistrate (CJM) Ashish Saldi awarded two-year jail term to a man in connection with a road mishap case that resulted in the death of a PSPCL employee.

The mishap had taken place on June 3, 2014 when a tractor trolley, being driven by Juhal, a resident of Purnia district, Bihar, ran over a biker, Balvir Chand, assistant lineman posted at Civil Lines, Hoshiarpur subdivision.

Victim’s son Rajiv Kumar, a resident of Danda village, had filed a police complaint that Juhal, riding a tractor trolley at a “high speed”, took a sharp turn all of a sudden, resulting in a collision with Balvir’s bike. Balvir was crushed under a tyre of the tractor, resulting in his death on the spot.

Beside, a fine of Rs 5,000 has been imposed on him. In case the fine is not paid, he will have to serve 15 more days in jail.
