Man booked on rape charge

PHAGWARA: On a complaint lodged by a Atholi village resident, the Satnampura police here have registered a case under Section 376, IPC, against Gurdeep Nigah, a resident of the same village on the charges of repeatedly raping the daughter of the complainant on the pretext of marrying her.

On a complaint lodged by a Atholi village resident, the Satnampura police here have registered a case under Section 376, IPC, against Gurdeep Nigah, a resident of the same village on the charges of repeatedly raping the daughter of the complainant on the pretext of marrying her.

The victim told the police that despite repeated assurances, the suspect did not marry her. No arrest had been made so far. However, the police were investigating the matter. — OC
