LPU student found dead

PHAGWARA: A student, S Kartik, hailing from Andhra Pradesh and studying in the BTech final in Lovely Professional University (LPU) Phagwara, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the washroom of his PG room near the varsity today.

A student, S Kartik, hailing from Andhra Pradesh and studying in the BTech final in Lovely Professional University (LPU) Phagwara, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the washroom of his PG room near the varsity today.

The police said S Kartik had attended a birthday party of his friend Adesh near the PG till late night and had gone to sleep in his room. His roommate Som Nath, also an LPU student, found Kartik dead in the washroom this morning. The police have informed the family of the deceased about the incident and kept the body in the mortuary after conducting post-mortem examination in the Civil Hospital. The police are investigating the matter.

Man arrested for peddling drugs

Phagwara: The police have arrested an alleged drug peddler identified as Kuldip Singh alias Dimpi of Khalwara Gate Phagwara and recovered 4 gm of heroin from him on Saturday. OC

Fake travel agents booked

Phagwara: On a complaint lodged by Dameli village resident Bahadur Singh, the police have registered a case against two fake travel agents, identified as Dameli resident Manjit Kaur and her brother Harjinder Kumar of Bilga village on the charges of duping the complainant of Rs 7 lakh for promising to send him abroad. The complainant said neither the accused sent him abroad after taking the full amount from him nor were they returning his money. OC
