Sultanpur Lodhi, November 9

After the formal welcome of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his landing at a helipad at Busowal village, local MLA Navtej Singh Cheema submitted a letter to him stating requisitions for the overall development of the holy town connected with Guru Nanak Dev.

He urged the PM to connect Sultanpur Lodhi with the eight-lane Ludhiana-Amritsar NH-1. He said being a historic holy town, Sultanpur Lodhi has also been an old centre of trade point between Delhi and Lahore.

Cheema also requested Modi to sanction a multi-specialty hospital-cum-medical college and research centre to improve health facilities in the region.

He said around 100-km area around Sultanpur Lodhi had been lacking any premier health institution and sanctioning of health institution such as AIIMS would be an honour to mark the Parkash Purb celebrations. The Local MLA said in old times, Sultanpur Lodhi was a major trade centre of North India and it was need of the hour to develop it as a major tourism spot due to its historic importance.

He said 550th Parkash Purb was the best opportunity for the restoration of the trade route and glory of the historic town by connecting it with national highway.
