Left bodies condemn arrests of intellectuals, activists in Pune

Jalandhar, November 14

The Indian Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) New Democracy, along with Lok Sangram Manch, Inquilabi Lok Morcha, Inquilabi Kendra Punjab and Inquilabi Jamhoori Morcha, held a convention against arrests of intellectuals and activists. 

Started with the paying of tributes to Vishnu Ganesh Pingle, a protest was also held after the convention. 

Condemning policies of the Sangh Parivar, speakers said the Central Government had failed to keep the promises made to people of the nation. They said unemployment had increased in the country and due to this, there was an unrest, especially among minorities, tribal communities.

They said the intellectuals siding with protesters were being jailed. 

They condemned the arrests of Vernon Gonsalves, Gautam Navlakha, Varvara Rao, Sudha Bhardwaj and Arun Ferreira. They also condemned the murders of Gauri Lankesh, MM Kalburgi, Govind Pansare, Narinder Dabholkar. They also condemned the inclusion of Anand Teltumbde in the ambit of the investigation. 

They also called for the release of innocent activists, students and intellectuals who had been put in the jail. Also siding with the dharna of the Sanjha Adhyapak Morcha in the state, they sought the regularisation of contractual workers, as per their demands.
