Larvae detected in offices of DEOs

JALANDHAR: In their drive against vector-borne diseases in the city under Tandarust Punjab Mission, four anti-larva teams conducted a checking in the district administrative complex, buildings of District Education Officers and surroundings of the Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Civil Hospital here on Friday.

In their drive against vector-borne diseases in the city under Tandarust Punjab Mission, four anti-larva teams conducted a checking in the district administrative complex, buildings of District Education Officers and surroundings of the Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Civil Hospital here on Friday.

The teams detected the larvae in desert coolers of the offices of the DEOs.

Thereafter, they drained water from coolers to ensure that larvae do not spread further. Spray was also carried out in the coolers. The teams also checked houses in Garha and Urban Estate, Phase-1.

Health officials also made people aware of the fact that these places are a breeding ground for mosquitoes to spread diseases like dengue and malaria.

They were told to keep all water storage containers covered.

An official spokesperson said the drive was a part of Tandarust Punjab Mission to check the spread of vector-borne diseases in advance.
