Karva Chauth celebrated with fanfare

PHAGWARA: Several women with their husbands settled abroad broke the fast during Karva Chauth by talking to them on FaceTime, Skype, Google Duo, WhatsApp and internet-based calling applications, after seeing the moon on Saturday night, while several women residing in foreign countries broke their fast on Sunday morning (IST).

Several women with their husbands settled abroad broke the fast during Karva Chauth by talking to them on FaceTime, Skype, Google Duo, WhatsApp and internet-based calling applications, after seeing the moon on Saturday night, while several women residing in foreign countries broke their fast on Sunday morning (IST). “Thanks to the technology, for it has brought us too close,” They said.

Karva Chauth was celebrated with enthusiasm around the city on Saturday. Women from all walks of life observed a fast, praying for the long life of their husbands.

Several men also joined their Wives to observe the Karva Chauth fast .

Mehndi makers did a brisk business during last three days. Bangle sellers and sellers of artificial jewellery had also a busy time. In the evening, many women observed the prayers together.
