Former minister Joginder Singh Mann on Wednesday slammed the BJP for “vitiating the peaceful atmosphere of the town for vested political interests.”

In a statement issued here today, Mann asked the Bhartiya Janta Party leaders to desist from putting Phagwara on boil just for hogging limelight.

He said the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh was committed to restoring peace, communal harmony and brotherhood in the state, in general, and Phagwara in particular. He said Tuesday’s meeting at Chandigarh was aimed at restoring normalcy in Phagwara. He said the perpetrators behind the conspiracy to divide residents of the town would be punished.

Recalling his long association with Phagwara and its people, Mann said he had always been a votary of peace and progress of Phagwara, adding that throughout his life, he had worked hard for the development of the town and the prosperity of its people.

He said he would never take any decision which was against the interests of residents of the town. He urged the residents to exercise peace, restraint andlive harmoniously in this hour of crisis.
