Jalandhar-based NRI bags badminton gold in England

JALANDHAR: A Jalandhar-based NRI, Rohan Kapoor has bagged a gold medal in the Open Badminton Championship held in England.

A Jalandhar-based NRI, Rohan Kapoor has bagged a gold medal in the Open Badminton Championship held in England.

Basically a resident of the Adda Hoshiarpur Chowk in Jalandhar, Rohan has been staying in the UK for the last 25 years. He won gold medal in 35 plus category. Coming from a family of badminton players, Rohan’s brother Rohit Kapoor and father Raj Pal Kapoor have also been associated with the sport.

Raj Pal Kapoor said, “Rohan has won the gold medal in the Open Badminton Championship from England’s side.Rohan had also won a silver medal in the same championship in 2016-17. In 2015-16 as well he had won a gold medal.”

A student of the local DAV College, Rohan used to play for Punjab. He won Senior Punjab Open Tournament four times. He also won the Open Punjab Senior District Badminton Championship four times and represented Punjab in the National Punjab Championship.

Raj Pal Kapoor said, “My son made me immensely proud. My younger son provides free of cost coaching at the local Gymkhana Club to spread the love for the sports.
