Inter-state gang of robbers busted; 3 held

The Jalandhar rural police today arrested three members of an interstate gang of robbers that had been involved in several cases of robbery. The police recovered six stolen motorcycles, 26 mobile phones and two sharp weapons from their possession.

The arrested gang members were identified as Manpreet Singh (26), Lavpreet Singh (19), alias Lavi, and Manpreet Singh (25), alias Vicky, all residents of Nijjran village in Lambra.

Addressing mediapersons here today, the SSP, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, said: “The accused have executed several robberies in the Jalandhar rural, urban and Kapurthala areas. A case of robbery was also registered against them in Rajasthan. They were involved in as many as 27 cases of robbery.”

Speaking about their modus operandi, the SSP said Manpreet and Lavpreet, who are shuttering carpenters by profession, would execute the robbery and sell stolen items to Manpreet alias Vicky, who is an electrician by profession.

The police are further investigating the case.

A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
