Jalandhar: The department of ME and ECE of the Lyallpur Khalsa College of Engineering organised an industrial visit for students of mechanical engineering and electronics and Communication engineering to Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Plant, Ropar, recently. The students got a chance to gain deep insight into the power generation concepts, operation of motors, turbines, furnaces, electrical power specifications, fuel used, fuel preparation, power distribution and transmission, monitoring and alarm systems used. The visit became even a better learning experience with the active participation of students, who flooded asked questions on the industrial operations work, how production and control issues are faced by them. The students were accompanied by Sarbrinder Pal Singh, Aman Sharma, both assistant professors, ME, and Silky Khurana and Priyanka Dayal, both assistant professors, ECE. Students of the CSE department visited SEBIZ Infotech, Mohali. They were taught about trends in latest technologies which can minimise the gap between the industry and academia. Sukhbir Singh Chatha, director, academics, KCL Group, said the LKCE was committed to strengthen the academic learning of the students by keeping the practice of organizing industrial visits regularly.
