Impart quality education in govt schools: Chaudhary

Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary, general secretary, Punjab Congress visited Government Senior Secondary School, Mehsumpur, Phillaur.

He applauded the efforts of an NRI Mohinder Singh who had donated lakhs of rupees to upgrade the government school.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the state government was committed to improve the quality education in government schools for the benefit of the underprivileged.

He pointed out that former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh was an alumni of government school but went on to become a world-renowned economist.

Chaudhary said it was the quality of education that made the difference, adding that he felt honoured to be with the youngsters who had made the school proud achieving the distinction in academics and sports. Students were also awarded cash prizes.

He inaugurated the smart class and announced Rs 5 lakh from the state government grant for computers, additional smart classes and school kitchen.

He cleared another development grant of Rs 5 lakh for the village panchayat from the state government’s funds.
