An “illegal” hoarding being installed about a dog show event by a private organisation on the Jalandhar – Makhu national highway near Pushpa Gujral Science City on the Kapurthala road has been a cause of inconvenience to the commuters here. It’s been seven months that the hoarding had been placed there, while the officials concerned seem to be apathetic over it.

As per sources it has been placed by some advertising agency without seeking any permission from the authorities concerned. Meanwhile, as the road is recently declared national-highway, the installation of hoardings or banners on the road is being looked after by the Center Public Work Department (CPWD).

A resident of Kapurthala, Kamal Sharma, who first complained about the illegal hoarding with the District administration and was then directed to the CPWD said, “I have posted a written complaint to the CPWD seeking strict action against the advertising agency and removal of the hoarding at the earliest. However, it has been now been seven months and no action has been taken in this regard.”

Another resident of Kapurthala Nishant Singh said, “The hoarding is causing much inconvenience to the drivers, as the directions that were there on the pole, meant for the convenience of the commuters have been covered by the hoarding.”
