Phagwara: The house of Gurdip Singh Tuli was reportedly burgled in Bhagatpura locality on Monday night. The miscreants entered the house after breaking open the locks  and decamped with valuable goods and Rs 30,000. The police have registered a case.

Employees demand salaries

Phagwara: Around 70 outsource employees engaged by the Municipal Corporation, Phagwara, have not been paid salaries for the past three months. They staged a dharna in front of the MC office on Tuesday demanding the release of their salaries. They threatened to resort to an agitation and stop work if their demand were not met. They met Mayor Arun Khosla in this regard. When contacted, Surjit Singh, Assistant Commissioner, said the private contractor who had engaged employees was responsible for paying the salaries. 

Cash, mobile snatched

Phagwara: Two unidentified motorcyclists snatched a mobile and Rs 7,000 from a cyclist, Deepak Kumar, in Hargobind Nagar locality on Monday. The police have registered a case. 

2 booked for assault

Phagwara: On a complaint lodged by Rajinder Kumar, a resident of Goraya, the police have registered a case under  the Arms Act and Sections 506 and 34 of the IPC against two brothers Jinesh and Raman on charges of threatening and beating the victim when he came to a Hargobind Nagar shrine to pay obeisance. The police are investigating the matter.

2 booked for snatching, assault

Phagwara: On a complaint lodged by Nisha Rani, of Jalandhar, the Phagwara police registered a case under Sections 379-B,427 and 34 of the IPC against Amandeep and Poonam, both residents of Wadhala, on the charges of attacking the victim and snatching her gold ornaments and breaking her three mobiles on the Cinema Road, Phagwara on February 17. No arrest has been made so far in this regard. OC

Currency garlands stolen

Phillaur:  Garlands worth lakhs were reportedly stolen from two general stores in Phillaur on Monday night. Pawan Kumar and Rahul, owners of the stores, told the police that they found the shops burgled and currency garlands missing on Tuesday. A case has been registered.
