JALANDHAR: The department of horticulture has started providing the certified seed of potatoes to farmers from its centres operating in various districts of the state.

The department of horticulture has started providing the certified seed of potatoes to farmers from its centres operating in various districts of the state. The centres are being run in Dhogri and Malsian (Jalandhar); Khanora, (Hoshiarpur); Sohal (Gurdaspur); Harnam Singh Wala (Bathinda) and Bir Charrik (Moga).

A spokesperson of the department said: “The department has been distributing certified seeds of various qualities of potato crop, including Kufri Jyoti, Kufri Baadshah, Kufri Pukhraj, Kufri Chandermukhi, Kufri Himalayni, Kufri Bahar, Kufri Sandoori, Kufri Surya, among others.

He appealed the farmers to contact the offices of the deparment to get certified seed for his short-term crop on first come-first serve basis.”
