Hockey finals slated for today

The closing ceremony of the 63rd National School Games will be held at Surjit Hockey Stadium on Friday.

Jaspal Singh, Deputy Director, Sports, said in the Under-19 category for boys, Punjab would face Delhi in the final while Haryana to take on Odisha in the play-off for the third position.

In the category for girls, Punjab will face Haryana in the finals while Jharkhand will face UP for the third position.

Earlier in the quarter-finals for boys, Punjab beat Rajasthan 7-1 while Odisha beat Andhra Pradesh 5-1. Also, Delhi beat Maharashtra 4-1 while Haryana beat Jharkhand 5-0 to enter the semifinals.

In the semi-finals, Punjab beat Odisha 5-0 while Delhi beat Haryana 2-1 to enter the final of the National School Hockey Games.

In the quarter-final for girls, Punjab beat Karnataka 7-0 and UP beat Himachal Pradesh 3-0. Also, Jharkhand beat Mizoram 5-1 while Haryana beat Odisha 2-0 to enter the semi-finals.

In the semi-finals, Punjab beat Jharkhand 2-1 while Haryana beat UP 3-2 to enter the finals. Now, Haryana will face Punjab and Jharkhand will face Uttar Pradesh for the third slot.
