Hindware MD summoned by court

On a complaint filed by a Jalandhar-based distributor, a local court has asked FICCI president and managing director of Hindustan Sanitaryware and Industries Limited Sandip Somany to appear before it on April 18.

Other than the MD, its area sales manager HS Negi, services head Vikas Gupta, quality head Vijender Mattan and kitchen appliances head Alok Mishra too have been summoned in the city.

Daljit Roy, owner of Royco Industries, Nakodar Road, had filed a complaint alleging cheating by the company in its chimney.

He had complained that its chimneys did not have proper air flow and there were several complaints coming from retailers and customers.

The complainant through his advocate son Gautam Roy had alleged that sub-standard chimneys worth Rs 26 lakh had been supplied to them.

The summon in the case has been issued by Judicial Magistrate, First Class, Taranjeet Singh. After recording the preliminary evidence, a case has been made out under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC.
