Jalandhar, July 4

During a press conference here today Dr Jasmeet Singh Ahluwalia, bariatrics and advanced laparoscopic surgeon, said: “All types of hernia can be operated with keyhole method.”

He said: “From small scar and a quick recovery, the chances of hernia coming back are less in this method as a large mesh is placed inside the body. This technique is like putting a puncture on a tyre from inside, instead of usual outside.”

Dr Ahluwalia said: “He has a special technique of performing surgery for hernia at navel or around it, in which instead of using “tacker” he used routine sutures to fix the mesh inside abdomen. The grip of suture is much more as compared to the tacker and its cost is also less. Hiatus Hernia surgery can also be performed easily with laparoscopy now.”

Dr Mandeep Kaur, infertility specialist, said: “Uumbilical hernia is commonly seen during pregnancy and after delivery, it can be easily operated with the laparoscopic technique.”
