Health Dept officials collect 17 samples of milk products

JALANDHAR: To check adulteration of food under Tandarust Punjab Mission, a team of the Health Department on Wednesday collected 17 samples of milk and its products from dairies in the district.

To check adulteration of food under Tandarust Punjab Mission, a team of the Health Department on Wednesday collected 17 samples of milk and its products from dairies in the district.

On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma and Civil Surgeon Dr Jaspreet Kaur Minhas, the team led by District Food Security Officer Dr Balwinder Singh and Food Safety Officers Rashu Mahajan collected the samples from milk diaries in Cheema Nagar, Mithapur, Lajpat Nagar, Kishanpura, Ajit Nagar and Dilbagh Nagar.

Of the total 17 samples, the team collected 11 samples of milk. These samples would be sent to Kharar for laboratory test.

The team reiterated that the drive would be continued in the coming days and stern action would be taken against those who were indulging in the adulteration of food.

Health officers said the district administration would leave no stone unturned under the Tandarust Punjab Mission to check the sale of such adulterated food items in the district.

Checks in Kapurthala

Under Tandarust Punjab Mission, health officials checked sweet shops and milk dairies in Nadala and Subhanpur on Wednesday.

A meeting of sweet shop owners and dairy owners with the health officials was convened at Adda Subhanpur in Kapurthala on Wednesday. They agreed to give their full support to the ongoing mission. A total five samples of food items were collected on the occasions.
