Govt depts in Phagwara yet to pay Rs 3.97-cr power dues

The Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd has to recover an amount of Rs 3.97 crore, which has been pending from two years, from various government departments. 

This includes Rs 3.3 crore from public health office of the Phagwara subdivision that supplies drinking water through tubewells, Rs 22.35 lakh from the Police Department, Rs 30.72 lakh from government hospitals, Rs 10 lakh from the Municipal Corporation and Rs 4.03 lakh from courts. 

Notices have been issued to officers concerned. This was confirmed by Senior XEN Ashok Sabharwal today. Notices were sent to defaulter departments. 

He said the PSPCL had disconnected power connection to 10 government offices in Phagwara subdivision on account of non-payment of bills on Friday, but the supply was restored on Friday evening after taking an undertaking from the officers concerned.

Senior Executive Engineer (XEN) Ashok Sabharwal said the offices that remained out of power were Satnampura police station, Chiherru police station, suvidha centres in Hadiabad and Mehtan villages, tehsildar’s office, courts complex, SDO’s civil court etc.
