Branded mobile phones and tablets worth Rs 3.5 lakh were stolen from a local mobile phone shop in the wee hours of today.

The shop, Tarang Mobile Hub, was opened three months ago.

The owners of the shop said when they arrived at the showroom in the morning, they found that its locks were broken. While checking the shop, four new Apple I-phones, a Samsung tablet, and eight high-end mobile phones of various brands were found missing. The owner also confirmed that Rs 26,000 in cash was also found missing.

“As per the CCTV footage, the robbery took place around 4.30 am when 10-12 unknown persons wearing masks came to the showroom. While two men entered the shop, others provided them cover,” said the wife of the owner, Sunil Nayyar.

Moreover, the two of the suspects used blankets to hide others while breaking the shutter of the showroom.

Sources said, it was the ‘Chadar Gang’, which uses blankets in every theft. A similar incident was also reported at a Phagwara Gate mobile phone shop.

Meanwhile, the SHO, Police Division 4 stated that an FIR was lodged and investigation had been initiated in the case to arrest the suspects.
