A three-day free shooting camp organised by Colonelz Sharp Shooterz Academy for children concluded on Saturday.

The aim behind organising the camp was to introduce children in the age group of 10 to16 years to the popular shooting sport. Held with the aim of giving the children an exposure to 10-m air rifle and 10-m air pistol shooting, the camp covered various aspects such as shooting practice, yoga for better concentration and a sports physiotherapy clinic.

National level coaches Ravi Kumar (10-m pistol) and Prateek Kumar (10-m rifle) teach the basics of shooting to the participants. Speaking to the media, Ravi Kumar said the importance of yoga for shooting game cannot be overemphasised. “Being a precision game, shooting requires high level of concentration, for which yoga helps in focusing the mind.”

Children were given exposure to the latest imported equipment at the competition level shooting range.

The mentor of the Colonelz Sharp Shooterz Academy, Colonel JS Nagpal (Retd), expressed his satisfaction at having spread the awareness of shooting to interested children through the free shooting camp.
